Mark Price and I recently put out a request for people to share things that their dad use to say. We shared them on his most recent “Mark Price For 3” Podcast. The list was long and there were so many great responses. I thought I would share them all here. You can read them below and hear the entire episode here –

Curt – My dad was helping me paint the cinder block walls in the basement of my first home. For some reason, the previous owners painted the room pink. Anyway, we were painting it white. We got the entire room done except behind the washer and dryer. I said to dad, “It would be a pain to move those so let’s not.” Dad pushed back. “Son, if you’re going to do a job, do it right. Paint the entire room, even places you can’t see.” I approach everything I do that same way. Thank you, Dad.
Nick – One of my favorites from BIG G is “You’re so smart, you’re stupid!”. Always thinking I knew everything he quickly showed me I knew nothing, LOL.
Josh – I always remember this lesson: I was frustrated and agry after a high school soccer practice. I hadn’t performed very well, and it was looking like my playing time in the next game was going to be less. Dad came to pick me up, I opened the back door and THREW my bag in the car, sat down in the front and SLAMMED my door. Dad was TICKED, but he set a great example by controlling his own anger. He said to me, “It’s not that you’re angry. It’s what you DO with your anger.” And that was it. Powerful.
Megan – No matter how bad you think you have it there is always someone out there in a worse position so you have to keep going to help them.
Jonathan – There are two names you represent-Jesus Christ and Forester and in that order.
Gail – Do as I say Do! Not as I Do!
Gail – When I told my Dad that I needed to talk, his comment was….do I just listen or are you wanting my advice?

Janet – “see the ball, hit the ball.”
Dave – My Dad knew I get compulsive, especially in college. I could have a 20 min talk with my mom, but my Dad, it was usually 30 secs. Usually ended with
“Remember why you’re there”
Karen – I couldn’t go to Heaven unless I had Jesus in my heart. I was young he passed away when I was 9
Tori – 1. Let your yes be yes and no be no!
2.Fat meat is greasy!
3.Take care of your mother!
4.Do as I say, not always as I do!
Karla – My dad is gone, and I’m sitting here racking my brain on if he always said something. But he didn’t. He was a man of few words.. whenever my sister and I messed up, he was just there. . When we ran out of gas, he was just there.. When we made stupid decisions, he would shake his head and we knew.. but we always knew no matter what he was there and loved us
Shelley – “There isn’t anything you can do that is going to shock me, I’ve been there done that so don’t try any BS”
Ernie – If the relationship doesn’t work out, leave her better than you found her.
Suzanne – ETDF. A motto that started with my dad and is now a way of life on that side of my family! Eat The Dessert First. Life is too short to put off the good things. Make the time for the people and the things that you love. Lead with the best of what each day can bring because you never know when you won’t have that chance. He passed almost 24 years ago….but never forgotten.
Lynne – I love you more cause I’ve known you longer!
Andrea – “Stressed out” is getting shot at while hiding behind a tree for over 24 hours. He is a Vietnam Veteran who believes that term gets used too loosely!!
Brett – A job worth doing is a job worth doing well.

Susan – “Use your head to save your feet”
Cathay – My dad would say….”nothing costs TOO much if you want it bad enough.” I apply this to my spiritual walk. No matter the cost, no matter how tough it gets…..do I want it bad enough? YES and YES!
Rosanne – Baby. Jesus is more than your friend..He’s your lover. Right? Absolutely Dad! Thanks baby that’s all I needed to know…he passed a few months later…it still brings tears to my eyes..that was 1983…
